Department of New Jersey Convention
The Department Convention is held every year in June in Wildwood, NJ
Post 249 always attends the convention. This includes members of our SAL and Auxiliary. The Post’s regular location during the convention is at the Armada-By-The-Sea Hotel located at 6503 Ocean Ave., Wildwood Crest. Reservations can be made at 1-800-399-3001 or www.armadamotel.com . Information is available by calling 609-729-3000. It is recommended that all members and their families who are attending make reservations between February and April and that they mention that they are with Post 249. In addition to the activities in and around Wildwood during the convention, the Department’s Parade takes place on the Saturday of the convention in which Post 249’s Color Guard participates. The Post also conducts a dinner following the parade back at the hotel organized by our Auxiliary. All the members and their families are asked to bring a dish for the dinner or a desert. A sign up list of the dishes and deserts is usually posted on the Auxiliary’s bulletin board at the post beginning in April.
All members are encouraged to attend the convention and to bring their families for the weekend. We have a great time and camaraderie and friendships that develop are terrific! With the facilities of the hotel, the beach and ocean right outside the hotel’s door, the parade and dinner on Saturday and the boardwalk and rides a short distance away there are enough activities to keep the whole family happy.
